As I worked at my desk, I observed her wonderful qualities that make her an effective teacher. She was prepared with lessons and materials each day, and she had terrific classroom management. Mrs. Hess had high expectations for these students in the areas of homework completion, bringing their materials, behavior toward each other, and their academic learning.

I am pleased to serve as a reference for Melissa Hess. She taught math to small groups of students with varying English proficiency levels. The position was quite challenging since some students came to her for additional math support while others relied on her as their primary math instructor. These students were grouped together in the same classroom. Mrs. Hess used a variety of techniques to motivate her students. Students worked individually, with partners, and in full group settings. Students commented that her classes were interesting, and their math scores improved. Mrs. Hess had a good rapport with her students. They looked forward to her class each day. Mrs. Hess participated actively in the department. She attended all faculty meetings and a variety of testing meetings. She helped to prepare the students for the Ohio Test of English Language Acquisition as well as the Ohio Achievement Tests. Mrs. Hess was an asset to the department and brought a great deal of expertise in dealing with special needs students. I do highly recommend her to you.
